I’ve had private lessons with Allison of Tilden House Studio several times. Every time that I leave, I feel that I’ve made a giant leap forward in my sewing.
Allison is an expert at garment making, pattern making, and fit. She guided me through creating a custom bodice block, and she refined the fit of a dress block that I couldn’t get quite right. She also helped me to pad a dress form to match my measurements, and advised on which dress form I should buy that would be most suitable to the task. The dress form was an invaluable addition to my sewing room. With the first garment I put on the form, I saw that the waistline was too high — something I probably wouldn’t have noticed if I was wearing the muslin myself, since I’m a bit impatient when wearing test garments.
